You can learn more about our values and beliefs at https://alg.edu.au/We are currently seeking an Academic Manager to join our Melbourne team. About the roleThe Academic Manager leads and oversees the training and assessment teams that deliver courses to our students.This role will manage the entire training and assessment delivery lifecycle, including trainer recruitment and retention, trainer compliance (including mapping documentation maintenance), trainer timetabling, training and assessment delivery supervision, and trainer feedback, as well as day-to-day management and administration of the academic function. About youYou are proven experience in team management and can collaborate effectively in a diverse environment. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with problem-solving abilities. You have good time management skills, high attention to detail, and a positive attitude. Key responsibilities:Education deliveryEnsure all training and assessment being delivered is aligned to the relevant Training & Assessment Strategy (TAS)Consult with all stakeholders across ALG to ensure understanding and support of the delivery of each courseAct as an escalation point for student academic enquiriesProvide support as required to the Student Experience team to resolve student complaints and appealsSupport the Course Coordinators engaging with the Work Placement team to ensure all students receive the required industry training and assessmentAdhere to, monitor and report on performance against allocated budgetsImplement systems and controls to ensure all marking is completed accurately and on timePrepare regular accurate and timely reports on the performance of the functionAssist with the implementation of course transition plansSupport the implementation of new coursesImplement relevant academic and People and Culture policies within the teamParticipate in industry engagement activitiesSupport your training team to maintain their industry and training and assessment currencyTrainer and AssessorEnsure ALG has sufficient trainers and assessorsWork with the People & Culture team to build an ongoing pipeline of trainers and assessors (including a ‘taxi-rank’ of trainers)Allocate trainers and assessors to each upcoming term of deliveryConduct trainer observations, if required and provide feedback to deliver improvementsFacilitate your team to actively participate in trainer moderation and provide continuous improvement recommendations to the Learning Development teamEnsure compliance of all trainers and assessors; vocational, industry currency and professional development is maintained at all timesContinuous improvement and qualityParticipate in continuous improvement activitiesParticipate in external and internal auditsLeadership & managementFoster a high-performance culture in the training and assessment team by providing clear goals and regular feedbackActively engage in developing a positive and supportive culture within the team and across the groupProvide mentoring and coaching support for team members to assist in their developmentProvide clear direction to and manage the work performance of team membersAdhere to all People and Culture processes ensuring engagement and retention of team membersComplianceMaintain up-to-date knowledge on the VET Quality Framework and the ESOS FrameworkWork with the Quality Assurance team to implement the annual calendar of compliance activities for delivery of training and assessmentSupport internal audits and create and monitor rectification plans as required Qualifications and Experience:Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE 40116 or higher or equivalent3-5 years' experience in delivering training and assessment including to international studentsAt least two years' experience leading a team of trainers and assessorsExperience working in a Registered Training OrganisationDemonstrated experience in using management systems and databasesDetailed understanding of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018Sound knowledge of Microsoft 365 office suiteAbility to lead diverse teams in multiple locationsExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to collaborate and work in a diverse environmentExperience with data analysis and reporting What makes working with us exciting:Paid birthday leaveWork-life balanceTraining and development opportunitiesJob rotation and career progressionA positive culture and fun team Diversity & Inclusion We celebrate our diversity and strive to reflect contemporary Australian society in order to better serve our students.
